Odzun – Kobayr

Odzun Monastery built in the VI century, is located in Odzun village of Lori Province of Armenia, in the east of historical Gugark Province. Odzun Monastery refers to the most beautiful early medieval building of Armenia. In the VIII century it was refreshed by Hovhannes Odzenci. Just then this rather typical for Armenian Church architecture domed basilica enriched with colorful frescoes inside and rich carvings outside.

Kobayr Monastery was founded at the end of the XI century by the queens of Armenian clan of Curikyan. The ruins of the Monastery first of all are famous for their unique wall paintings - frescoes, created in the traditions of Armenian and Byzantine painting.
