Vardavar is one of the popular feasts in Armenia. According to one of the versions, "Vardavar" translated from Armenian means "roses in bloom", according to another version it means "water and var (to water)", which is the main idea of the feast – to sprinkle with water. The feast is celebrated in summer and it’s accepted to pour water over everyone. It’s also one of the main feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Church and one of the beloved feasts among the Armenians.
The feast of Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ is celebrated 14 weeks after Easter and is one of five main feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The holiday begins since early morning and everyone pours water over another not depending on gender and age. Every is perforce involved in this process, including tourists who are in Armenia this day.
