On January 28, Army Day is celebrated in Armenia. On January 28, 1992, the historic decision "On the Defense of the Republic of Armenia" was adopted, thereby notifying the establishment of the Armenian National Army. According to the act "On Holidays and Memorial Days of the Republic of Armenia" adopted by the President of the country, this day has been considered a holiday and a non-working day since 2001.If you look from the historical side of the development of the Armenian Army, then it had three main stages. The first is from February 1989 to May 1992, during the period of aggravation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, when volunteer groups provided security for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

The second is from June 1992 to May 1994, when the National Army was created in conditions of war.The third is from June 1994 to the present day, called "army construction".
